CAWFE — IACIS Certified Advanced Windows Forensic Examiner
IACIS's advanced Windows forensics credential, covering registry forensics, advanced artifact parsing, and file-system edge cases mapped to the August 2023 Windows Forensic Examiner Core Competencies document. The exam is a 125-question, 8-hour open-book written test delivered via IACIS Moodle (cannot be paused once started) followed by a 30-day practical analyzing Windows artifacts with any tool of the candidate's choice. Both components require 80% to pass; one retest is permitted on either. The accompanying training is the 36-hour AWFE course (5 days, also available online on-demand at $995). All work must complete by December 31 of the cycle year. Not FSAB-accredited unlike CFCE, but the practical depth on Windows internals exceeds what GCFE covers. Natural progression for CFCE holders who specialize in Windows-heavy casework.
